Current champions France started their World Cup campaign in fine style with their 4-1 victory over Australia, capped by a brace from Olivier Giroud, who matched Thierry Henry’s 51-goal record for Les Bleus. Read FRANCE 24’s liveblog below to see how the match unfolded.

When scored a shock early goal, it looked like the curse of the titleholders could be coming for , but Les Bleus pulled it back and gave themselves a comfortable victory, with notably fine performances by their talismanic presence  as well as from Antoine Griezmann and Adrien Rabiot in midfield.
