Joe Biden says he had detailed talks with Emmanuel Macron about Inflation Reduction Act

French President Emmanuel Macron called for France and the United States to be “brothers in arms” Thursday at the start of a state visit to the White House, where he was greeted by US President Joe Biden and a military honor guard.

The visit comes as the two nations have seen increased tensions over US subsidies that Macron criticised as “” towards French companies.

They are set to meet later in the Oval Office to discuss the Western alliance confronting over , the rise of China and contentious trade questions.

In remarks referring to the Western coalition helping Ukraine to repel the Russian invasion, Macron said “we need to become brothers in arms once more.”
