Otis is forecast to become a hurricane as it moves northwest toward Mexico. On the forecast track, Otis is expected to reach the coast of southern

Strengthening Tropical Storm Otis is expected to become a hurricane before reaching the southern coast of near Acapulco by Tuesday night or Wednesday, the National Hurricane Center (NHC) said.
The storm will bring heavy rain to southwestern Mexico, which may result in and in the higher terrain.

Otis is located about 155 miles south-southeast of Acapulco, Mexico, and is moving to the north-northwest at 8 mph, as of the latest advisory from the National Hurricane Center. Otis has maximum sustained winds of 70 mph with some higher gusts.
The NHC says Otis will keep gaining strength Tuesday and is forecast to be a strong Category 1 hurricane at its expected landfall late Tuesday or Wednesday. Rapid weakening is likely after landfall.

On that current forecast track, the center of the will reach the southern coast of Mexico by late Tuesday night or Wednesday.

A Hurricane Warning has been issued along the southern coast of Mexico from Punta Maldonado westward to Zihuatanejo, including the city of Acapulco.
A Hurricane Watch has been missed from Lagunas de Cachahua to Punta Maldonado.
A means that hurricane conditions are expected somewhere within the warning area, in this case, within the next 24 to 36 hours.
A Tropical Storm Warning means winds between 39 and 73 mph are possible in the watch area within 36 hours.
Another area of disturbance south of Central America and Mexico
A broad area of low pressure is likely to form over the far eastern Pacific in a couple of days, partially related to the remnants of Atlantic Tropical Depression Twenty-One, which are forecast to move into the region.
Environmental conditions could support some slow development of this system by late this week or this weekend while the low moves slowly westward to west-northwestward, the NHC said.
Formation chance through the next weeks is low.
