The released a lengthy statement that included an apology about her words, which caused controversy from many people, and an admission of a “terrible mistake.” She also revealed the speech, which took place amid the war between Israel and Palestinian militant group Hamas, wasn’t planned.
“Recently, I attended a rally alongside a diverse group of activists seeking to highlight the urgent humanitarian crisis in Gaza and call for a ceasefire,” Susan wrote in the message. “I had not planned to speak but was invited to take the stage and say a few words.”
